LGC leads the way in reference

Independent analytical laboratory LGC is to merge its Reference Materials Division with German reference materials distribution company, Promochem, in a £10 million acqusition. LGC said the move would make it Europe's leading reference standards company, open up markets globally and exploit substantial opportunities presented by companies in the biotech business, as a result of the genome project and genetically modified materials. Promochem will continue to trade under its current name.
