Light-weight CRC from Crown UCP

Crown UCP has developed PP28mm Medi-Loc, a child-resistant tamper-evident closure (CRC) for the pharma market.

The company has adapted the Clic-Loc CRC and Vistop tamper-evident ring technology to achieve a more compact closure that is 30% lighter than that originally developed in the 1990s for the liquid pharmaceuticals market.

Since the Vistop tamper-evident ring is a separate assembly, closures can be supplied with the ring in a contrasting colour. The closure is also available without the tamper evident option.

The company worked closely with Boots Manufacturing to provide solutions for both otc products and prescription products. For the dispensing sector, PP28mm Medi-Loc has been approved to ISO 8317:2003 on a range of cylindrical glass bottles from 30ml to one litre.

For the otc market it has attained the same accreditation on a range of PET bottles used by Boots Manufacturing for products such as Nurofen.
