Linnea launches red clover extract

Published: 9-Feb-2002

Swiss botanical extracts manufacturer and distributor Linnea has launched Red Clover Extract IFL40. The product contains 40% total isoflavones and 100mg provides the recommended daily intake of biochanin A, formononetin, daidzein and genisten. These isoflavones act in the body to mimic estrogen, but without the negative side effects often associated with hormone replacement therapy.

According to Robin P. Ward, Linnea marketing manager, the high concentration of isoflavones means that IFL40 can be formulated into much smaller tablets, capsules or one-a-day doses. Furthermore, unlike the majority of isoflavones which are in glycoside form and have to be converted to the aglycone to become biologically active, the isoflavones in Red Clover Extract IFL40 occur naturally in the more bioavailable aglycone form.
