Lock shows its metal

Contamination from metal particles is a major concern in pharmaceutical manufacturing, an issue that has been specifically addressed by metal detection equipment company Lock Inspection Systems. Its MET 30+ Pharmaceutical unit features advanced electronics for high levels of precision, while high speed sampling and interrogation of the process signal ensure optimum sensitivity levels are constantly maintained, even for demanding applications such as products with a high iron content. The machine can detect and reject tiny lengths of wire and press tooling at line speeds of up to 30,000 tablets/min, says Lock.

Its ability to store automatically up to 100 product set-ups and retain 300 metal detection events in memory means that the system can record the profile of conductive products, such as iron tablets.

Meanwhile for inspection of materials in bulk powder or granule form at the beginning of a production line or after formulations have been mixed, Lock has developed the MET 30+ Pharmaceutical Vertical Fall detector.
