Lonza expands its capability

Lonza Group is to invest SFr20m (€14m) on expanding its small scale production capability at its Visp site in Switzerland. The new plant, which is scheduled to come on stream early next year, will be designed to manufacture quantities from 10-150kg and will serve customer demands for pre- and early clinical phase materials.

The move complements the recent expansion of Lonza's kilolab facilities (reactor volumes up to 30 litres). Both the kilolab and the new small scale plant will be able to take advantage of Lonza's broad technology toolbox, the company says.
