Malvern buys rights to NIBS

Published: 23-Sep-2001

UK firm Malvern Instruments has acquired exclusive rights to NIBS (non-invasive backscatter) technology from ALV in Langen, Germany. NIBS technology enables the reliable measurement of submicron particles over a wide range of sample concentrations in a single instrument. The application is important in measuring colloidal systems, proteins and macromolecules in solution, and has a growing importance in biotechnology, drug development and pharmaceutical formulation, as well as traditional applications in the chemical industry. Traditional approaches to measuring submicron particles require the instrument design to be focused on either high concentration or high sensitivity. NIBS technology is equally adept at both.
