Could spark anti-pollution action if levels are sufficiently high

The European Parliament’s environment committee has backed adding three pharmaceuticals to a European Union (EU) watch list telling member states to monitor lakes, rivers and ponds for their presence.

MEPs said 17alphaethinylestradiol, 17beta-estradiol and Diclofenac will be among 15 new chemicals whose presence in surface water would be recorded, potentially sparking anti-pollution action if levels are sufficiently high.
