Following its successful research and travel grant schemes last year, Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD), the UK subsidiary of Merck & Co, has launched the MSD Research Experience Grant 2006.
The grants provide academic institutions with an allowance, travel expenses and costs for consumables to enable undergraduates with a strong interest in the areas of pharmaceutical science, pharmaceutical/chemical engineering or related subjects to get involved in a pharmaceutical research project at their university laboratories during summer breaks. Specific travel grants are also available for postgraduates via their academic institutions for help in paying conference fees and accommodation/travel costs.
In 2005 grant recipients were invited to MSD to present their projects and tour the company's product development facilities.
