From 5 -18 March 2007, Mike Murray, technical and environmental affairs executive at the ABPI and a regular contributor to Manufacturing Chemist, will be embarking on another major adventure.

In aid of Ovacome - the support organisation for sufferers of ovarian cancer - Mike has forsaken his bike and has committed to trekking in the Himalaya. 'The stimulus for this escapade is a very dear friend of ours who is suffering from, and bravely fighting, this disease,' he said.

The trek will be in the lower slopes of the Himalaya, and there will be six days of actual trekking, reaching heights of up to about 3,000m (9-10,000 feet). Training started seriously with walking the Great North Run at the beginning of October, and has continued through the winter.

More details about the expedition, together with an opportunity to support Mike in his endeavours, can be found on the Ovacome website: www.chacombenuts.org/Trekking07.

All costs for the trip are covered by Mike, so donations, plus the tax refund, will go directly to Ovacome.
