A new flow filtration semi-automated bench top solution suited to both process development and low volume sample preparation is on show at this week's INTERPHEX 2008 Conference.
The new Cogent µScale Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) system has been developed by Massachusetts-based Millipore Corporation to support TFF process development at the "microscale" using up to three Pellicon 3 88 cm2 cassettes (264 cm2). With a low minimum working volume, the ability to operate at feed pressures up to 80psig (5.5 bar) and very low pulsation, the system fully supports both scaling studies and low volume Ultrafiltration & Diafiltration (UF/DF) work using Pellicon 3 cassettes. The system can also be configured to process up to three Pellicon XL-50 TFF devices, and is ideal for purifying and concentrating monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins, vaccines, gene therapy constructs, blood serum products and other cell derived components.
Benefits include a versatile system performance - an excellent tool for microscale process development, membrane screening and everyday low-volume UF/DF work, including fed-batch processing.
Ease-of-use - an intuitive, multilingual touch screen interface makes it simple to set-up and execute runs without the need for complicated programming.
User-configurable alarm set points and automated data acquisition enable greater productivity, and feed pressures up to 80 psig (5.5 bar) enable higher DeltaP and TMP processing.
In combination with Millipore's industry leading Pellicon 3 TFF cassette technology, the Cogent µScale TFF System will enhance the productivity of process developers and research scientists alike.
The INTERPHEX conference and exhibition, based at Pennsylvania Convention Center, ends tomorrow.
