Miteni adds intermediates
Miteni, of Milan, Italy, has launched a new class of fluorinated intermediates. These are functional derivatives of the pentafluorosulfur-benzene moiety, and the SF5 derivatives are now available in lab quantities for sampling.
Thanks to their good thermal and hydrolytic stability properties in different media, the SF5 group is expected to be efficient raw material for condensation and nucleophilic substitution reactions; high yield and regio-selectivity can be expected in downstream processing reactions.
Marketing manager Dr Primo Carrozza commented: 'Miteni's strategy is to expand its market share in more advanced market sectors and to consolidate its present position as one of the leading players in the field of fluorine intermediates.'
To confirm this, Miteni also announced that it has taken a 15% stake in the UK fluorochemical producer F2, giving the company access to two additional innovative technologies, fluorination of aliphatic compounds using cobalt fluoride, and selective direct fluorination using fluorine gas.
