Monitoring methanol

Published: 22-Oct-2001

The YSI 2700 analyser is a solution for the rapid on-line monitoring of methanol during Pichia pastoris fermentations.

P. pastoris is a microbial eukaryote that is used as an expression system for generating large quantities of recombinant protein in biotech labs. Fermentations consist of a growth phase followed by a production phase, where methanol acts as an inducer and the carbon source. The rate of methanol addition is critical in batch processes.

Sensitive and easy to operate, the system can be used stand-alone or linked to the YSI 2730 on-line system for automatic sampling at pre-programmed intervals.
