New blisterpacker designed for stability batches and clinical trial applications

Published: 21-Nov-2001

The Auto EZ Blister has been launched by Sepha Products specifically for stability studies and high volume clinical trials applications. Suitable for run lengths from 500 to more than a million packs, the machine is aimed at small batch blisterpacking producers wishing to increase production capacity, large format clinical trial day-packs, pilot plant production and marketing samples.

Developed in response to market demands for small production batches and reduced drug development lead times, the fully automatic blisterpacker is capable of producing 40 – 60 packs/min depending on format.

One of the major advantages of the machines, according to director A. Ernest Parker, is that it allows packaging for stability testing to be carried out in-house, rather than sending the product out to a contract packer.

The machine features low-cost tooling, rapid changeover and intuitive operation. It has a maximum 300 x 300mm forming area, offering great flexibility in packaging design and a large area for information and instructions for clinical trials applications. Tooling changeover time is said to be 10 – 15 min.

The Auto EZ Blister can handle all packaging materials, including thermoforming films and cold form blisters.
