Halocarbon Products, a leading producer of specialty fluorochemicals, has promoted Peter Murin to chief executive officer. Prior to this Mr. Murin had held the position of chief operating officer for 10 years.
As ceo, Murin will be responsible for overseeing the development and execution of the company's r&d roadmap, as well as the corporate marketing strategies.
Under Murin's leadership, Halocarbon - headquartered in River Edge, New Jersey, US - recently expanded its manufacturing facility in North Augusta, South Carolina, US, to accommodate additional custom manufacturing capabilities. The new Semiworks plant (SWP) enables Halocarbon to respond to its customers' needs for a more diverse array of compounds and capabilities; the plant can carry out fluorinations, chlorinations, brominations, oxidations, hydrogenations, esterifications, amidations/aminations, and alkylations.
On the research front, Halocarbon is now producing two grades of Hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP) - a grade with 99.9% purity, and a higher-purity 99.99% chromatography grade; it can be used as solvent for many different types of polymers and to make synthetic pharmaceuticals.
