New fibre optic technology

Published: 1-Feb-2003

Fibre optic technology has opened up a new range of applications for UV-visible spectrophotometry. Continuous in-vessel measurements using immersion probes, and the ability to use open sample compartments are just two examples.

Stellarnet further extends these possibilities with its new SL5 combined light source, which uses fibre optic technology to couple the UV and visible sources together. Using their high-resolution diode array monochromators, scans from 200-1100nm can now be done in virtual real time with no moving parts or lamp changes.

A range of dip probes, cuvette holders and flow cells is available, and the unit can be configured as a spectroradiometer, fluorimeter, colour measurement system or spectrophotometer.

The system, which is compatible with any modern PC, includes free Spectr-Wiz software for data acquisition and display.
