New spray dryers offer flexibility
A range of spray dryers aimed at the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector has been developed by Niro. Named PHARMASD (PSD), the new dryers have been designed using standard modules that incorporate all the required features necessary for cGMP production in a pharmaceutical plant.
The concept is that a combination of standardised modules is built together to meet the requirement for a specific duty. The PSD dryers are designed to use hot air or, when drying non-aqueous compounds, nitrogen as the drying gas. They can be used for the drying of a wide range of compounds that are based on acetone, methylene chloride, ethanol and other organic solvents.
Design options include: closed cycle operation; hot gas sanitation; special sanitary duct connections; special construction materials; HEPA filters for gas streams; special air disperser design; swirl cone for chamber access; and CIP equipment.
