BioPure, part of Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group, has announced the completion of a custom-built facility at Dunsbury Park, with production due to begin in March 2022. The facility, which began construction in 2019, is five times the size of the company’s previous two buildings combined and will provide additional capacity to support the company’s ongoing growth, it says.

At 120000 sqft, the facility is hoped to help the company accomplish key aims including simplified production operations, lowered cGMP manufacturing costs and reduced process validation. Based 4 miles from the current site in Portsmouth, the facility is now home to BioPure’s current team of 232 employees, while the expansion will create 130 additional jobs across various disciplines.

The company assures it will continue to use existing production equipment at the site, with no change to raw materials, processing equipment or process methods. Revalidation of each moulding machine and metrology comparison with products from the old manufacturing process has been carried out to ensure quality continuity, the company says.

Steve Feasey, MD of BioPure, said: “This is a very exciting time for BioPure, with demand for our products increasing year on year. We’re thrilled to get the keys to our new facility, providing increased capacity for us to deliver our high-quality fluid path components and strengthen our support for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. This demonstrates our ongoing commitment to improving our customer service and our team is excited to start work from this state-of-the-art facility. We look forward to continuing to grow and develop more market-leading fluid management solutions.”
