Budelpack divests Belgian pharma and healthcare co-packing

Budelpack, a leading European contract manufacturer in the FMCG market, has sold its pharma and healthcare plant in Hamont, Belgium, to United Drug, an international provider of services to pharmaceutical retailers and healthcare manufacturers in the UK and Ireland.


Budelpack, a leading European contract manufacturer in the FMCG market, has sold its pharma and healthcare plant in Hamont, Belgium, to United Drug, an international provider of services to pharmaceutical retailers and healthcare manufacturers in the UK and Ireland.

Hamont, one of the plants Budelpack acquired from Kloeckner Pentapack in 2001, serves a variety of market segments. Budelpack developed it into an FDA-approved plant, specialising in blisterpacking branded and generic drugs, prefilled syringes, small medical devices and pharmaceutical wipes. The site is also equipped to pack powders, semi-liquids and liquids in various formats, including sachets and stickpacks.Budelpack employed 140 people in Hamont.

'Our decision to develop Hamont into a specialist in Pharma contract packing has proven right. Since 2001, a total transformation in focus has taken place, accompanied by major investments and a totally changed business environment,' said Chris Moerkerken, ceo. 'The sale to United Drug offers Hamont the best position for realising further development and growth in the pharma contractors business.'

United Drug provides contract packaging services to the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries through TD Packaging, a UK-based provider of primary and secondary packaging solutions.
