The new improved "sterile as standard" ChargeBag from ChargePoint Technology is said to be ideal for contained API powder transfer applications ranging from weighing and dispensing to reactor/process vessel charging.

A range of bag sizes from 2-6in tri-clamp connection and 2-40litre capacities make for easy media, buffer, filter aid, tablet or capsule transfer throughout sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, the company says.

Manufactured using FDA compliant materials within a class 10,000 Cleanroom, the bag is then individually sealed into an easy tear liner. No cutting tools that could damage the ChargeBag are required to open the package. ChargeBags are also gamma irradiated within the sealed liner providing a secure, sterile product.

High containment, with OEL's of <1ug/m3, during the transfer process is achieved when the ChargeBag is used with a split butterfly valve.

Maintaining containment integrity, the bag is connected to the split valve "Passive" via a simple patented EziDock polypropylene tri-clamp connection. An ergonomic reinforced handle and lightweight construction ensure comfortable manual handling and easy operation.

Cleaning time, and therefore process downtime and validation costs are reduced giving a more efficient process, says the company.

To maximise product yield during charging processes, the ChargeBag's flexibility and high performance anti-static polyethylene material allows easy manipulation of poorly flowing product or cohesive powders. A double-ply, pressure-tested liner ensures bag integrity is maintained during manual handling and manipulation. Manufacture in clear materials allows visual inspection to verify complete product charge/discharge.
