GEA launches decanter pilotMaster for chemical product development

GEA has introduced the decanter pilotMaster, offering what the company calls maximum scale-up reliability and optimum process safety. Designed for product developments in the large chemical sector, the device is an individual tool. The pilotMaster is a robust decanter for smaller production volumes and for upscaling tests, optionally available in ATEX design. It is protected against erosion and corrosion, the company says, as all parts in contact with the product are made of high-alloy duplex steels, super duplex steels or Hastelloy C276.

Chemical cleaning after the separation process is possible.

The pilotMaster is suitable for reliable scaling to production capacity. It offers maximum drum speed flexibility from 1,000 RPM to 6,500 RPM, a differential speed range from 1 to 80 RPM without changing pulleys, and the same geometric configuration as larger production machines.

GEA notes its decanters are not off-the-shelf products. They must be selected and adjusted specifically for the user's process for optimal use. Tests and analyses can be carried out at the customer's site or at the company’s separation test centre.
