Huber Engineered Materials, a business unit of J.M. Huber Corporation, has acquired Micro Powders and Braig (MPBI), located in Benicia, California.

The company says it found 'remarkable product and manufacturing synergies with MPBI' that aligned with the company's strategy of furthering its development of speciality ingredients and functional additives used in nutraceutical/pharmaceutical excipients and tablets.

MPBI is a granulator and tablet manufacturer of calcium carbonate and ground oyster shell powders, which are a natural source of calcium carbonate. Both products are essential to the calcium supplement as well as excipient marketplace and are used in oral dosage tablet manufacturing and processing.

Calcium carbonate is used in applications such as antacids, fortified foods, nutraceuticals and pharmaceuticals; the addition of MPBI's products and specialised granulation services strengthens Huber's existing line-up of excipients and supplement additives.
