Novavax appoints vice president of manufacturing

Mervyn Hamer takes responsibility for manufacturing at Rockville and Gaithersburg plants

US vaccine manufacturer Novavax has appointed Mervyn Hamer as vice president of manufacturing. He takes responsibility for manufacturing at the biopharmaceutical firm’s Rockville and Gaithersburg, MD, US locations, with oversight of materials management, clinical manufacturing, facilities, environmental, health & safety and security.

Prior to joining Novavax, Hamer was vice president of supply chain management and engineering at Intercell USA and vice president of operations at Iomai Corporation, its predecessor company. Before joining Iomai, he was technical director at PATH.

Prior to PATH, he worked at Alza Corporation for nine years, where he led the establishment of a commercial manufacturing facility in Vacaville, CA for a variety of controlled release dosage forms and became director of manufacturing.
