Serialisation systems from Atlantic Zeiser

Fareva, a globally leading contract manufacturer for pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and other products relies on serialisation technology from Atlantic Zeiser

Headquartered in Tournon-sur- Rhône (Ardèche) and posting annual sales of 1.4 billion Euros, the company is currently equipping 30 of its packaging lines in France, Germany, the UK and Italy with the new MEDILINE T&T solution from Atlantic Zeiser.

If required, this system can meet the requirements of serialisation, tamper-evident sealing and control weighing in one single operation tailored to the workflow.

In addition to a check weigher and a tamper-evident labelling machine, the Fareva systems include a Bollini labeller. The systems feature various inkjet printers or laser markers, depending on the requirements of individual products and locations.

Atlantic Zeiser France was in charge of their installation in Fareva factories and subsidiaries, scheduled to be completed in 2018.

“The MEDILINE T&T offers us a new, convincing approach. This efficient and space saving addition enables us to prepare our existing lines for the new serialisation and tamper-evident requirements according to the EU pharmaceuticals directive”, says Pierre Laissy, Operational Excellence Director at Fareva.

“Atlantic Zeiser’s global presence was another key factor in our decision. The project is designed to help standardise our production processes throughout the world. During that process, we appreciate having a partner who can provide competent on-site support.”

Laissy also explicitly praised the close cooperation with Atlantic Zeiser – the company has established a service office at the Fareva headquarters. “In view of the project’s scope and a rather tight schedule, short coordination lines and face-to-face talks are a top priority”, stresses Eric Penne, Managing Director of Atlantic Zeiser France.

Serialisation with process security

First introduced at the 2017 Interpack trade show, Atlantic Zeiser’s MEDILINE T&T track & trace system not only enables filled folding cartons to be serialised with outstanding process security. If required, the MEDILINE T&T’s perfectly coordinated functional modules allow users to replace existing individual solutions, e.g. for control weighing or applying tamper-evident or Bollini labels, thereby optimising space conditions.

Moreover, the system was developed with a focus on flexibility, allowing users to adjust quickly to different formats or coding requirements. For example, the new quick-change device makes it possible to change the position of the camera and printer unit without any tools in a matter of minutes. This minimises set-up time and makes the investment in a second camera and printer unit unnecessary.

Thanks to a very precise transport mechanism, the system can achieve reproducible, high-quality coding results even at throughputs as high as 400 packs per minute.

Integrated solutions for serialisation, track & trace and late-stage processes

The Pharmaceutical and Packaging Solutions division of Atlantic Zeiser ranks among the leading suppliers of sophisticated individualisation, serialisation and track &a trace solutions that efficiently and seamlessly monitor product movements, securely verify authenticity and reliably protect against counterfeiters.

Innovative digital printing uses drop-on-demand technology to create superior quality labelling, coding and marking solutions – from primary packaging to late-stage customising in the pack printing segment.

Specifically for the pharmaceutical and cosmetic sectors, the division develops tailored systems to facilitate the reliable, legally compliant, cost-efficient and fast application of unique security features to individual and mass products.

Atlantic Zeiser’s other division is Security Printing Systems, which supplies not only systems for personalising ID cards, banking and credit cards, as well as gift and other customer loyalty cards, but also solutions for numbering banknotes in any currency, and serialising passports.
