Peristaltic pump manufacturer Watson-Marlow, part of Spirax-Sarco Engineering plc, has acquired PAK Machinery - the UK distributor of Flexicon equipment.

The announcement follows Watson-Marlow's acquisition of Flexicon, a Danish specialist in peristaltic aseptic filling systems, earlier this year. This further enhances Watson-Marlow's position in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors in the UK and its global reach.

PAK Machinery's founder and managing director, Philip King joined the Watson-Marlow sales team on the 1st November 2008.

The acquisition of PAK Machinery allows Watson-Marlow to increase its offering to UK customers in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.

Flexicon has been marketing aseptic filling and capping systems, featuring peristaltic pumps, to pharmaceutical and biotech companies for the past 22 years. Its portfolio ranges from stand-alone units for hand filling, semi-automatic systems, to fully automatic filling, stoppering and capping machines.

King said: 'We have a great deal of expertise in our core markets and we have a wealth of experience to bring to the table; I look forward to the opportunity of adding value to the sales activities in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.'
