Global genomics firm Novogene Europe has announced the expansion of its single-cell RNA sequencing capability at its Cambridge Omics Centre, bringing 10x Genomics Chromium‑based workflows closer to UK researchers.
The development builds on Novogene's established single-cell expertise, including existing capabilities in Germany and combines specialist project support, sequencing infrastructure and bioinformatics analysis.
The firm cited growing demand for accessible single-cell transcriptomics as the reasoning behind the decision to expand its capacity.
The announcement also follows on from the launch of Novogene's Untargeted Metabolomics Service, also at the Cambridge Omics Centre. The company said in its statement that the expansion marks the next step in a broader phase of capability expansion at the site.
Novogene's Cambridge service initially focuses on 3′ gene expression using cells or nuclei, supported by GEM-X chemistry, high-throughput Illumina sequencing and Novogene's bioinformatics expertise.
The service includes the following to support research across oncology, immunology, neuroscience, stem cell biology, developmental biology and translational research, as well as biomarker and drug discovery:
- sample processing
- quality control
- library preparation
- and sequencing and comprehensive bioinformatics analysis.
By profiling gene expression at either single-cell or single-nucleus resolution, researchers can investigate cellular diversity, identify rare cell populations and examine how various cell types and states contribute to biological functions.
In addition to the new capabilities in Cambridge, Novogene also offers a broader portfolio that includes 5′ gene expression analysis and single-cell immune profiling, which features T- and B-cell receptor sequencing.
