Perceptive data extractor aids auditing

Perceptive Instruments has launched a data extractor tool for the secure extraction of comet assay measurement and audit data generated using its Comet Assay IV software.

The comet assay is a method of assessing DNA damage that is used for genotoxicity testing of candidate pharmaceuticals as well as other applications such as clinical diagnostics. Comet Assay IV is Perceptive Instruments' interactive video-based software system which measures the DNA damage detected using single cell gel electrophoresis (SCGE).

In GLP-regulated environments, data is often saved to an Oracle database in order to ensure it is stored securely. Perceptive Instruments has simplified the process of creating reports and performing further analyses by removing the need to set up and configure unfamiliar third party tools.

The Data Extractor allows authorised users and quality assurance auditors to browse, filter and group raw data, audit trails and scored cell images held within Oracle. Each measurement can be viewed together with the corresponding image stored in order to check its validity. The images can be saved individually or in batches and retrieved within the Comet Assay IV software. Data can be extracted to Microsoft Excel while maintaining the security of the original data within Oracle. It can also be saved to Excel in a format that is compatible with any existing macros, such as the Spreadsheet Generator, for statistical analysis.
