Pharmacia opens new laboratory
UK health minister Lord Hunt has opened Pharmacia's new medical development centre in High Wycombe. The centre will design, manage and interpret clinical trials and is a global operation co-ordinating with Pharmacia's other centres in the US, the rest of Europe and Asia. The centre will employ some 250 programme directors, scientists and statisticians.
Fred Hassan, chairman, Pharmacia Corporation said: 'Research and development is the future of any pharmaceutical company and the recent introduction of this centre not only expresses our support of UK industry but our continued motivation to research and develop new medicines.'
The ceo of Pharmacia UK, Keith Krywicki, added: 'Pharmacia is the seventh largest pharmaceutical company in the UK. The centre is another in a series of investments, which include the extension of the key global manufacturing plant in Morpeth, and the upgrading and extension of Pharmacia's facilities at the Milton Keynes' head office.'
