Pill protect - the creator of specialist child-resistant, senior-friendly packaging solutions for blister packs for the pharmaceutical industry - has run successful trials of a new F=1 product.
F=1 is an industry rating standard that illustrates highest levels of resistance of a blister packaged drug to children, while remaining senior-friendly. Each product is given an F= rating, which records the number of units that were accessed by children during testing. The lower the F= rating, the higher the level resistance. An equivalent of an F=8 rating in the US is the minimum requirement for BS 8404 compliance.
The product has passed a full 'senior-friendly' test and a pilot 'child-test', which is targeted for completion as a full test later this year. The Research and Development team at Pill protect are confident that a fully commercial product will be ready for launch in early 2008, once further consumer testing is complete.
'A number of clients have expressed an interest in us developing an F=1 product and this is a significant development for the company,' said Jonathan Bobbett, chief executive of Avid, Pill protect's parent company.
