Professeur Trevor Jones
Professor Trevor Jones CBE, former director general of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI), has been elected to the French Academie Nationale De Pharmacie. At a ceremony at the University of Paris on 4 January, Professor Jean-Pierre Lousson, outgoing president of the Academie, cited the contribution that Jones had made to international pharmaceutical science during his career and his long association with scientists in France.
During his time at the Boots Company, Jones was responsible for the technical transfer of Brufen formulations to Labs Dacour in Paris, while his time as r&d director at Wellcome saw him take responsibility for the r&d activities of Wellcome France in Sophie Antipolis and in Paris, during which time his team at Wellcome co-developed the anticancer drug Navelbine with Pierre Fabre. For 13 years he was president of the international jury of the Maurice-Marie Janot Lecture, and he has recently become a senior r&d advisor to Labs Servier.
