Oral drug delivery company Kosmos Pharma, of Virginia in the US, has successfully completed feasibility work on a film-based product containing a highly sensitive protein for an undisclosed partner. The product is a thin film that dissolves readily on the tongue.

Kosmos's core technology, FDTAB, is a film-based oral dosage form, similar to currently marketed film-based breath freshener products.

Kosmos Pharma ceo Dr Richard C. Fuisz said: 'The successful inclusion of this sensitive protein in film is exciting because it potentially opens the door to the delivery of a whole range of proteins in film. This is complementary to Kosmos Pharma's primary focus on the delivery of conventional pharmaceutical agents in film.'
