Pumps help stricken tankers in emergencies at Sutton & Sons
When Sutton & Sons was looking for a mobile pump to fit on its emergency response units, the company settled on the Chemflo all-PTFE double diaphragm pump from Flotronic.
Sutton has a fleet of over 500 road tankers and two of the Flotronic pumps are now based at the Widnes and Stavely depots in the UK, where they form part of the emergency equipment on the emergency response units. A further five pumps are fitted to trailer mounted fast response units around the country.
The pumps handle a wide range of hazardous and corrosive chemicals and need to transfer them fast. To date, they have been used to shift caustic, sulphuric acid, hydrochloric acid, solvents, diesel oil, aniline and many other flammable liquids. They can empty a 30,000l tanker in less than two hours.
