ReSearch Pharmaceutical Services and Covidence to form global alliance

ReSearch Pharmaceutical Services (RPS) a US-based pharmaceutical resource organisation (PRO) in the pharma/biotechnology industry, has formed a wide-ranging alliance with Germany company Covidence, of Frankfurt, to enabling global clinical development programmes to be carried out globally under joint operations.

The cornerstones of the collaboration are said to be the flexible and customised joint operation plans that provide detailed understanding to clients on how projects will be performed around the world. It offers clients a single point of contact, project teams operat-ing under global SOPs, project-specific operational plans, and global project team leadership based in either the US or Europe, thus giving maximum flexibility to the client. The alliance does not affect ownership of either company and will not limit the specific offerings to existing or future clients of either company in any territory.

'The linking of our operations and the varying needs of our clients create a tremendous opportunity for both of our companies,' said Luc Opsomer, ceo of Covidence. 'Although similarities in the conduct of clinical trials in different parts of the world are striking, differences still prevail; truly globally harmonised clinical research has yet to become a reality.'
