Roche recognises outsourcing trend

This prevailing trend towards outsourcing and subcontract manufacturing in the pharmaceutical industry prompted Roche to establish the subcontract manufacturing company Cenexi in 2004.

It specialises in the manufacture and packaging of injectable liquids in ampoule form, solid tablets, syrups, suppositories and soon, hard gel capsules also. The company also continues to manufacture products on a subcontract basis for Roche.

The company's Paris-based manufacturing facility has the capacity to produce up to 300m ampoules, along with up to 1,300t of solids, 20m suppositories and potential for up to 10m bottles of syrups. It has the facility to carry out mixing, filling, forming, packaging and labelling.
