Nova Weigh's latest 5000 series of weighing instruments uses Rock-Steady digital signal processing to extract the exact weight, even in the toughest of applications.

In the laboratory, care is taken to make sure that before a weight measurement is taken the system is stable and vibration-free. In the industrial world, weight readings often have to be made quickly with loads that are flowing, being stirred or shaken.

Previously, filtering relied on taking many readings to estimate a weight resulting in an unacceptable time delay. The Rock-Steady system rapidly delivers an accurate and stable result by using high-speed digital analysis of the load cell signal.

In powder handling, vibration is often required to move product and weighing mixing vessels or reactors often means dealing with vibration from agitators and loads swirling inside the vessel. These can present problems to conventional weight indicators but are overcome with this new weighing instrument and its signal processing.

The 5000 series has recently been granted a 10,000-division EC type approval, meaning that when used with an OIML R60 load cell, it will deliver a trade stamped weighing system.

The new ST-EX Weight indicator from Nova Weigh is ATEX certified, and its intrinsically safe inputs and outputs enable a complete ATEX Zone 1/21 filling system to be designed, without the need to locate any weighing and control equipment in a safe area, thus minimising equipment and installation costs. A variety of software options are available, including advanced control filling algorithms, enabling the instrument to be configured for a wide range of applications.

The inbuilt predictive learning mode, can autonomously determine the most efficient speed and manner to fill a container, thus providing the optimum filling speed and accuracy. These parameters can be stored in memory and are recalled automatically when a given filling routine is selected from the keypad.

A major international pharmaceutical manufacturer has selected Nova Weigh's LoadMount vessel weighing system and the ST-Ex for two of its plants.

LoadMount's unique installation system means reactors and vessels are installed onto the mounts, without fitting the load cells, so reducing the risk of damaging the sensitive cells. Only at the time of commissioning are they then fitted.

Nova Weigh's md Peter Holmes said: 'Our customer was looking for technology to integrate the weighing systems into a modern fieldbus network. We are delighted that Nova Weigh was selected for these flagship projects'.
