Seat design helps to protects valve performance

Control valves depend on the integrity of their seat design to ensure long, consistent performance, according to valve and control systems manufacturer Schubert & Salzer, of Redditch in the UK.

Its GS control valve has a sliding seat to protect it from excessive wear that, combined with an innovative carbon fibre seat structure, makes it a universal control valve suitable for most applications.

The company says that the newly patented seat design reduces the valve torque while increasing seat strength. Created to be self-lapping during operation, the valve seat provides a very high degree of leak tightness despite being essentially a metal-to-metal seat.
