Siemens covers range with single PLC

The Simatic S7-400F fail-safe PLC from Siemens is the first such device to achieve safety integrity across SIL levels 1 to 3 for a single processor.

Fail-safe controllers have traditionally had to be hardwired into a system, but advances in control network technology, coupled with new legislation, means that systems can now be configured for all safety functions and automated control requirements using a common family of Simatic S7 programmable controllers. The S7-400F is completely compatible with other hardware and software in the Simatic range.
