Sigma-Aldrich reports 11% increase in Q3 sales
Figures in line with expectations, says president and ceo
Sigma-Aldrich Corporation saw its sales increase by 11% in the third quarter of 2011 to US$626m. Sales grew organically by 4%, while recently completed acquisitions contributed an additional 2% and changes in foreign currency exchange rates contributed an additional 5%. Net income over the same period was up 26% to $117m.
Organic sales growth for the full year is expected to meet the company's previously forecast growth of mid-single digits, while net cash provided by operating activities and free cash flow are expected to be about $520m and $400m respectively, in line with expectations.
Third quarter sales for the company's SAFC business was $180m, in line with the first two quarters of 2011. This is an organic increase of 2% reflecting a very strong 2010 comparable base. At the end of September 2011 SAFC's booked orders for future delivery were up 3% from the 30 June 2011 level and up 6% from the 30 September 2010 level.
