Sirius launches the Pampa Evolution by pION
Sirius Analytical Instruments, a market leader in tools for physicochemical property analysis, has gained the exclusive distribution rights for Europe of the PAMPA Evolution by pION. The Parallel Artificial Membrane Permeability Analysis (Pampa) Evolution, a new in vitro automated product used for measuring drug permeability and membrane retention, is part of the stable of profiling instruments at Sirius Analytical Instruments, newly launched in 2003.
The Pampa Evolution is a robotic-based early indicator system ideal for pharmaceutical and biotechnology applications, measuring the permeation of drug compounds from the human digestive system into the blood stream. Pampa Evolution is concerned with measuring high throughput permeability through a wide variety of artificial membrane systems. It delivers the next generation of high-throughput permeability assessment and analytical algorithms for permeability and membrane retention calculations. This is possible through an integrated 96-well plate UV spectrophotometer or off-line using LC/MS. The practical UV range is 250-500nm with DMSO solutions, which are introduced as 10-30mM. 198 assays can be throughput in 24 hours at low cost with simple results processing.
The product offers:
• Double-Sink pH-Gradient or iso-pH permeability protocols
• Direct permeability units (10 cm/s)
• Five orders of magnitude resolution
• Results at the press of a button
• Integrated plate UV spectrophotometer
• Unstirred water layer correction
It forms an integrated system for all hardware components, sample preparation, assay design, data manipulation and data presentation. The system was designed in the US by pION, and is marketed in Europe by Sirius and its distributors.
