UK-based RTS Life Science, a global supplier of automated sample management and drug delivery testing systems, has launched the RTS SolidPrep, line of tablet sample preparation solutions.

RTS SolidPrep provides high-speed preparation of tablets and other solid dose pharmaceuticals for assay, impurity and dose content uniformity applications. The company claims that it will enable most laboratories to achieve at least three times the throughput compared with current manual methods, giving a typical payback period of less than two months.

As well as dramatically reducing sample preparation time by 90%, benefits include significant reductions in solvent use and waste, and reproducible homogenisation without localised heating or increased drug degradation. In addition, RTS SolidPrep offers disposable in-vessel processing, eliminating the need to find and clean glassware and significantly reducing the risk of sample cross talk and operator drug exposures.

This scalable product line will be available as a benchtop or automated system. An evaluation package is on sale from April, containing the RTS SolidPrep homogenisation instrument, a six tube capacity processing head, all consumables required during the evaluation period together with consultancy and support from RTS Life Science.

The package allows customers to evaluate the RTS SolidPrep process, with only minor changes to existing manual analytical methods.
