SomaLogic, a US proteomics company based in Boulder, Colorado, has entered into the first phase of a development agreement with Beckman Coulter, a leading manufacturer of medical laboratory instrument systems, chemistries and supplies.

Under the agreement, SomaLogic will undertake a feasibility study aimed at integrating its aptamer protein capture agent technology with Beckman Coulter's Biomek liquid handling workstation and proprietary microarray-plate and array reader platforms. The project will be undertaken in conjunction with Beckman Coulter's Advanced Technology Center, which assesses the risks and benefits of new technologies for possible future product offerings.

'We are pleased to be working together to develop new approaches for array-based quantitative proteomics,' said Keith Warner, SomaLogic's chief business officer. "We look forward to the possibility of creating next-generation products that combine our aptamers with Beckman Coulter's industry-leading fluid handling systems and innovative array technologies.'
