Successful test run for new packing line

Published: 20-Dec-2001

Wolff Cellulosics' new automatic packing line for free-flowing nitrocellulose packed in cartons has successfully completed its final test run. The computer-controlled line, which forms part of a €11.3m (US$10.4m) investment project, can pack cartons holding 20kg of product. Following checkweighing, the cartons are stacked by a robot on europallets; an automatically loaded shuttle then conveys them to the warehouse.

The cartons are a major step forward, the company says, because they are easy to handle and store, can be disposed of easily after use, and comply with the European Directive on health and safety standards for manual handling without any artificial aids.
