Japanese company Suntory has acquired the right to use drug-delivery technology developed by CyDex, a US company that provides development support. The technology uses the molecules of a cyclodextrin, Captisol, to encase drugs that have poor water solubility. Captisol can improve a therapeutic agent's solubility and circulation in the body so that drugs are released slowly, enabling larger doses to be taken at one time.
