Members of the Parental Drug Association have formed an international user forum for organisations dealing with syringes to further their use and developemnt.
The user forum is being spearheaded by the PharmaSystems-Division of German glassmaker Gerresheimer, and is headed up by syringe expert Dr Schoenknecht. It held one of its initial meetings at the PDA conference 'The Universe of Pre-Filled Syringes', that took place in Munich this October.
At the meeting, the forum discussed issues relating to syringes and injections, including protection against product counterfeiting, outsourced filling, fully automated filling processes and lyophilisation techniques. It also heard reports from doctors and patients on their experiences.
Gerresheimer has made a name for itself in the growing market for pre-fillable syringes. The glass group supplies pre-sterilised, siliconised and preassembled systems for the pharmaceutical industry.
'Further development in this sector directly benefits patients and medical personnel and demands constructive collaboration between all the disciplines involved,' said Burkhard Lingenberg, director of corporate communications and marketing for the Gerresheimer Group.
