Teva launches generic version of Pfizer's anxiety drug Zoloft

Israel-based Teva Pharmaceutical Industries has begun the sale of its generic version of Pfizer's Zoloft (sertraline) tablets (25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg) in the US.


Israel-based Teva Pharmaceutical Industries has begun the sale of its generic version of Pfizer's Zoloft (sertraline) tablets (25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg) in the US.

As the first company to file an ANDA containing a paragraph IV certification for this product, Teva has been awarded a 180-day period of marketing exclusivity.

The AB-rated sertraline tablets are indicated for treatment of major depressive disorders. Annual brand product sales in the US were around US$3.1bn for the 12 months ended June 2006, based on IMS data.
