Ultrasonic meter helps track pump efficiency

Published: 28-Aug-2001

Panametrics has teamed up with AEMS to provide the reliable ultrasonic measurement of flow behind the Yates 2000 Series pump efficiency meter, which is the latest addition to the AEMS Yates meter range.

A 1% increase in pumping efficiency would reduce the UK pumping bill by over £20m a year. Reliable pump flow measurement is essential for calculating pumping efficiency and is provided by the Panametrics PT868 portable ultrasonic flowmeter. Transducers are clamped to the pipe exterior and pipe and fluid data are programmed into the handheld unit. A flow signal is then hard wired to the efficiency meter.

The PT868 can also be used as a battery-operated, standalone flow meter with on-board data logger, site data recall and PC compatibility. Various accessories, including an ultrasonic pipe wall thickness gauge, are available for a wide range of pipes and processes.
