Univar employs general manager to spearhead Middle East and Africa operations

Univar, a European specialist in the sales, marketing, application and safe handling of chemicals and ingredients, has appointed Nick Powell as general manager, Middle East and Africa, effective from 1 September 2009.

The Univar Middle East and Africa operations will be established in Dubai.

Powell joins Univar following a 20-year career in the chemical industry. The majority of his time was spent with BetzDearborn before GE Water & Process Technologies acquired it. Here he led the pan-European operations of Sentinel Chemical Solutions before becoming general manager of GE Water & Process Technologies in the Middle East and Africa.

Powell joins Univar from Aqualyng where was president, Global Water Solutions and md of Aqualyng Middle East.
