Yokogawa Electric Corporation, a Japanese manufacturer of process control and automation systems, has opened a new European headquarters at Amersfoort in the Netherlands.

The 25,000m2 building houses more than 500 employees and integrates Yokogawa operations which previously occupied separate sites in Amersfoort, Houten and Apeldoorn, as well as a new gas chromatography application laboratory and a test and measurement calibration centre.

In addition to being the sales and marketing focus for the worldwide Yokogawa organisation within Europe, the new building provides demonstration, testing and staging facilities for Yokogawa's customers to evaluate and analyse systems prior to final commissioning. It also houses manufacturing facilities for process analysers and a global response centre.

Harry Hauptmeijer, president of Yokogawa Europe, said: "The philosophy for the new European headquarters is to combine efficiency, high technology and innovation with a big emphasis on Yokogawa's 'Sun' symbol throughout. From a business point of view, it will help us to continue to provide the openness and transparency, customer friendliness and teamwork that our customers expect - not just for today but also for the long-term future."
