InforSense, a specialist in Open Discovery Workflow informatics platforms, has announced that the Science and Technology Commission of the Shanghai Municipality (STCSM) has licensed the InforSense Knowledge Discovery Environment (InforSense KDE) to build the Shanghai public infrastructure for r&d service.

The goal of the project is to provide a city-wide infrastructure for sharing and exploiting scientific information contributed by industry and research organisations across the Shanghai municipality. The result is expected to be an advanced knowledge grid, accessible for thousands of users and encompassing a variety of scientific domains from food, agricultural chemistry and pharmaceutical research to manufacturing.

'InforSense is the only supplier to offer such a highly open, flexible and scalable integrative informatics environment,' said Professor Yixue Li, general project leader of the Shanghai public infrastructure for r&d service. 'This is the initial step to fulfil our vision of delivering automated integration, analysis and interpretation of diverse data, effectively exploiting domain knowledge for the benefit of our entire scientific and technical community.'
