Anachem is offsetting the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions its fleet of 78 cars produces with the planting of almost 4,000 trees.
The Luton, UK-based company, which provides laboratory instrumentation and consumables to scientists, is one of the first companies to sign up to ALD Automotive's CARbon Offset initiative to take action on climate change.
Launched in association with the Woodland Trust the aim is to plant trees and create new native woodlands for wildlife and people across the UK at the same time helping to offset CO2 emissions from vehicles.
Anachem md Peter Tudor said that the firm signed up to the programme because the company is trying to adopt greener policies throughout its activities, in support of its recently achieved ISO 14001 Environmental Management certification.
After calculating journeys over the next four years 3,984 trees will be planted to absorb equivalent carbon emissions.
