Illinois-based Austin Chemical has agreed to sell and market zuChem"s zuCarb glycochemicals (varieties of specialised sugars) and custom synthesis services to the pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals industries worldwide.


Illinois-based Austin Chemical has agreed to sell and market zuChem’s zuCarb glycochemicals (varieties of specialised sugars) and custom synthesis services to the pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals industries worldwide.

Samuel M Ponticelli, chairman and chief executive of Austin Chemical, said: ‘zuChem’s rare sugar products such as L-ribose and others are a great fit for our portfolio. We look forward to working with zuChem to make these products more widely available.’

Austin will be exhibiting at Informex in San Francisco from 27-30 January 2009, where it will be introducing additions to zuChem’s zuCarb product line.

David Demirjian, chief executive of zuChem, added: ‘Austin’s reputation and its long history of success in the fine chemicals and pharmaceutical market will have a significant impact in expanding the customer base for our rare sugar products.’
